For over 40 years, Meisser Seales Riccabona LLP, has been providing personalized financial guidance to individuals and businesses in Santa Cruz, California. Everett Meisser, Jr. opened his office in 1976. Conrad Seales joined the firm in 1997 and became a partner in 2007. Paul Riccabona joined the firm in 2011 and became a partner in 2016. Our expertise ranges from tax management and accounting services to more in-depth services such as controller services, financial statements, and estate planning.

Professional Focus

Conrad Seales graduated from UCSC in 1991 with a B.S. in Earth Science. After five years in the restaurant industry, he began a career in public accounting. He obtained his CPA license in 2003, and in 2008 became a partner at Meisser & Seales, LLP. A particular focus of professional work for Conrad is the development and improvement of accounting systems. He routinely works with businesses and individuals on tax returns and tax planning. A favorite is to get beyond the compliance requirement of tax returns into helping clients with decision support. Conrad also enjoys working with exempt organizations as part of his accounting practice, doing both paid and pro-bono work for various local, statewide, and international organizations.

Volunteer Commitments

Conrad serves as a volunteer board member and Treasurer at Child Nutrition Foundation . The mission of CNF is to reduce child malnutrition in vulnerable communities in India, particularly in the first 1000 days of a child's life, through awareness building, empowerment of families and preventative actions. In addition, Conrad is a co-founder, board member, and treasurer of the Santa Cruz chapter of The Compassionate Friends, a support group for bereaved parents.

Other Interests

In addition to tax and accounting work, Conrad especially enjoys music, getting out to live music as often as the rest of life permits. He started late in life, but is an avid student of the guitar. As a daily bicycle commuter, he puts his environmentalism into action every day. And he still loves to cook!

Professional History and Focus

Paul Riccabona graduated from San Jose State University in 2003 with a B.S. in Business with emphasis in Accounting. He immediately landed a job at Stamper Capital and Investments as a financial analyst. Paul moved into the accounting world in 2005 with a job as a staff accountant for Hutchinson and Bloodgood LLP. Paul excelled at bookkeeping and managing small business clients along with individual and business tax preparation. Paul merged with Codiga and Associates, Inc. in 2008 and received his CPA license in 2009. Paul joined Meisser and Seales LLP in 2011 and started on the path to becoming partner. He achieved his goal in 2016 becoming partner at Meisser Seales Riccabona LLP. Paul has continued to strengthen his tax and accounting skills offering in depth tax planning and analysis for his clients. He especially enjoys S-Corporations and Partnership accounting and tax support.

Volunteer Work

Paul is on the board of directors for Central Coast Flag Football as one of the founding members which started in 2009. CCFF is a youth flag football league serving youths in the Aptos and Capitola-Soquel. Currently there are over 300 kids that play each year. In addition, Paul has been a football coach at Aptos High School for the past 6 years enjoying coaching his son and kids that came through and played in Central Coast Flag Football League.

Other Interests

Paul loves the outdoors in any format. Surfing year round with summer time camping and fishing to wintertime snowboarding. He currently lives in Aptos with his wife Christine raising 3 children, a son Joey and twins Ava and Nicco. He is an avid SF Giants, Warriors and 49ers fan.

Barbara Herrlich-Keeley, CPA

Professional Focus

Barbara Herrlich-Keeley has been licensed and practicing accountancy for nearly four decades in California. A 1978 graduate of San Jose State University’s school of business, Barbara is a senior member at Meisser and Seales, LLP. Barbara has been with the firm since 1993 and has extended experience in the area of individual, partnership, corporation, and estate and trust taxation. She focuses much of her practice in the fields of estates and trusts. Barbara especially enjoys working with clients who may not have had significant experience with trusts and other elements of estate work, many of whom are women.

Other Interests

While raising her daughter, Barbara was an officer at Georgiana Bruce Kirby School parent association. Using her skills to work with other parents to enrich the school’s well-regarded academic and related offerings. An active member of the Santa Cruz community, Barbara regularly attends events of various kinds in support of the many, many good works being undertaken by the extensive non-profit community. Barbara is an avid reader, quilter, and gardener. Barbara is married to former Assembly member Fred Keeley, and they enjoy bicycling, hiking, and the Santa Cruz Warriors.

Melanie Cleveland, CPA

Professional Focus

Melanie Cleveland graduated from San Jose University in 1996 with a B. S. in Business with an emphasis in Accounting. She spent several years at Ireland San Filippo LLP in San Jose during the dot com era on the Audit and Assurance team as an Audit and Review Manager with a focus on partnership, exempt organization, and corporate taxation and financial statements. Melanie joined our firm in 2005 and specializes in S corporation, sole proprietor, and exempt organization accounting and taxation.

Other Interests

Melanie in an avid runner and participates in many local running events and outdoor fitness along the cliffs and beaches of Santa Cruz. She supports, volunteers, and fundraises for local groups that focus on our community and the preservation of the Monterey Bay. She loves the ocean and spends much of her vacation time at the beach bodysurfing or sailing in her Southern California hometown, or on road trips with her family and friends. She is a die-hard SF Giants fan and enjoys live music.

Christina (Tina) Hancock, CPA

Tina joined Meisser, Seales & Riccabona LLP in 2014. Tina has experience in tax compliance and accounting, and works with individuals, businesses, trusts and exempt organizations. She provides services to clients across a wide range of industries, and also assists our fiduciary clients with trust accounting preparation.

Prior to joining Meisser, Seales & Riccabona LLP, Tina graduated from California State University, Chico, in 1999 with a B.S. Microbiology. After seven years in the biotech and life science industries, she began study at the Lucas Graduate School of Business at San Jose State University. Tina graduated in 2007 with an M.S. in Accountancy. Tina is a CPA, and a member of The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She is a prior volunteer with Tax-Aid.

Other Interests

When she is not in the office, Tina enjoys spending quality time with her husband and two children. Her newest endeavor is to finally learn to speak Spanish! She also enjoys holding down the couch whenever free time allows. (just kidding, sort of)

Melissa Gonzalez, EA

Professional Focus

Melissa Ray got her start in the accounting profession in 2002 working for Independent Bookkeepers, LLC in San Jose, CA. Her career with Meisser Seales Riccabona, LLP started in 2006 when she was hired to run the front office temporarily for tax season. Her knack for problem solving and desire to learn more earned her a permanent position with the company. She became a Registered Tax Preparer with the California Tax Education Council in 2008. She then moved up in 2016 to become licensed with the IRS as an Enrolled Agent. Melissa is a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor and assists with accounting systems support both in house and out in the field. In addition to preparing individual and business tax returns, improving and developing accounting systems has become a skill that she excels in and enjoys.

Other Interests

In the off season, Melissa likes spending time outdoors, enjoying a wide variety of live music and traveling with her 2 children.

Kimberly Grischy, RTP

Professional Focus

Kimberly graduated from National University San Diego in May of 2016 with a B.S. in Accounting and has been a Registered Tax Preparer with the California Tax Education Council since 2015. In addition to her recent work in public accounting she has over 10 years of experience in property management bookkeeping. Looking forward, Kimberly will be preparing to take the CPA exams and continuing her education.

Other Interests

Kimberly is an avid adventurer and can often be found on a local trail. In addition to local exploration she has traveled to Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. She has also volunteered with children in India through Cross Cultural Solutions, a nonprofit working to address critical global issues by providing meaningful volunteer service to communities abroad, and contributing responsibly to local economies.
